Accessing InDesign with BLOX Remotely

BLOX in InDesign requires access to an internal server that is not shared outside of TNG's network. To access, you will have to connect through Tailscale first. After connecting to Tailscale, follow the steps below to setup and access BLOX.

Solution

  • Ensure that you are signed in to Adobe Creative Cloud on your device and that InDesign and all your required Adobe apps are also installed. If they are not, sign in to the Creative Cloud application and install your required apps.

  • After connecting to TNG's network through Tailscale, connect to the servers you need access to. The server address is smb://dsm.nasguard.com. Log in using your Nasguard email and password

For a more information on connecting to this server, visit How To Access Shared Network Storage - Mac.

  • For access to BLOX, select the TCMS and Artworks servers and select OK

If you have already performed the below section once, you can now launch InDesign and connect to BLOX. If you are following this guide for the first time, continue to the next section.

Setting Up BLOX

This section only has to be done once after installing Adobe InDesign. If you have already completed this before, connect to the TCMS and Artworks shares and launch InDesign.

  • Once the TCMS and Artworks servers are mounted, launch the Self Service application from your dock or Applications folder

  • Navigate to Your Scripts section and find the InDesign 2024 - Update BLOX… script and select Execute Now

  • Allow a minute for the script to run

  • After completion, restart the computer

  • Upon logging in launch the Adobe InDesign application, sign in to Adobe and then sign in to BLOX.
