Operating System Updates

All OS updates are installed automatically on computers on-site. If you use a laptop for work off-site, you will get a notification once an update has been approved for you to install.

What You Need to Do:

Install Updates Promptly: When you see a popup notification indicating an available update, if you have 10 to 15 minutes, please proceed to select the Restart button in the pop up window to install the update. You will be required to enter the password you use to log in to your laptop.

Deferring Updates: If you are in the middle of something important and cannot install the update immediately, you can defer the update by selecting the amount of time you wish to delay it and then clicking the defer button.

Enforcement After Deferral Period: After a specified number of days, which will be clearly indicated in the popup notification, the option to defer will no longer be available, and the update will be enforced automatically.

While the updates are installing, you can continue to work until the computer advises you to save your work before it reboots.
